Cable harnesses consist of a large number of strands and cables that are usually bundled in different lengths and cross sections to form a cable harness and are used in control cabinets, machines, (automotive) test and inspection systems and electronic assemblies. The individual strands and cables are pre-assembled and shaped using a cable board. The cable harness that is laid in this way is then held in shape with cable ties, wrapping tapes, binding cord, insulating and shrink tubing. It is also possible to lay the cables and strands in the protective or braided hose so that the bundled cables are mechanically protected. A cable harness consists of several strands and cables of different lengths and cross sections. Wiring harnesses often have a large number of cable outlets and do not have a connector on each side like a "normal" cable. Each cable outlet of a cable harness can be assembled with a wide variety of components. All cable types, contacts, connectors, hoses and other electronic components available on the market can be installed.

What is a wire harness?
A cable harness consists of a bundle of cables with outgoing cable outlets according to the application. The respective outlets are individually designed so that the modules to be connected can be contacted in the most direct way. The use of a cable harness has the advantage that electronic devices and assemblies can be wired quickly, efficiently, clearly and without errors.
Einsatzbereiche für konfektionierte Mantelleitungen
Alle Kabelbäume werden einbaufertig konfektioniert so dass diese direkt und ohne weiteren Arbeitsaufwand am Einbauort eingesetzt und angeschlossen werden können. Die Kabelbaumfertigung ist zu einem großen Teil Handarbeit, wird aber durch eine Vielzahl von Maschinen gestützt. Oft können die in den Kabelbäumen verbauten Litzen und Kabel vorkonfektioniert werden d.h. die Leitungen werden maschinell auf Länge zugeschnitten, abisoliert und mit den entsprechenden Kontakten, Steckern oder anderen Bauteilen vorkonfektioniert. So können Kabelbäume rationell, schnell und in gleichbleibender Qualität hergestellt werden. Kabelbäume werden meist in Baugruppen eingesetzt in denen es eng zugeht oder viele Kabelverbindungen an unterschiedlichen Stellen ihren Einsatz finden. Mit einem Kabelbaum kann eine Baugruppe oder Maschine platzsparend und übersichtlich verdrahtet werden. Durch die einbaufertig konfektionierten und geprüften Kabelbäume kann ein Monteur schnell und fehlerfrei eine Baugruppe oder Maschine verdrahten.
